Special Driving Services Inc.

Description:

Special Driving Services, Inc. (SDSI), founded in 1988, is a comprehensive and specialized driver education program for individuals who have physical and/or neurological impairments secondary to trauma or disease. Adaptive equipment, if appropriate, is available for evaluation and/or training.
Services are individualized and provided by qualified professionals. Each client undergoes a thorough evaluation to determine readiness for driving instruction. Deficits are identified and a service plan is developed to address these areas. Driver training, if appropriate, is provided by licensed instructors.
SDSI was developed by Robert E. Reid, Ed.S, special educator, Certified Driver Instructor, and Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist. Mr. Reid is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) and a Third Party Road Tester for the State of Michigan, providing Secretary of State road tests since 1997.
SDSI is based in Okemos, Michigan, although services can be provided to anywhere in the lower-peninsula Michigan area. Evaluation/Training can also be provided in the client’s home community to facilitate rapid skill acquisition.
Client services and summary reports are coordinated between SDSI and the client’s physician, and (when appropriate), the client’s medical case provider, rehabilitation facility, and/or the insurance company for auto no-fault and workers’ compensation claims.
