What is MiNavigator?
MiNavigator is a free, resource identification service. This service is made up of an interdisciplinary team of professionals, ranging in backgrounds that include: clinical services, education, vocational rehabilitation, and lived autism experience. These individuals are known as Navigators.
MiNavigator aims to serve any person with needs related to autism, ranging from parents and caregivers, autistic persons, and service providers.
What is the role of an AAoM Navigator,
and how can they assist me?
Some examples of how a Navigator can provide assistance include:
- Gaining a diagnosis of autism through locating a local evaluation center
- Identifying a relevant service provider to address specific needs (e.g., ABA, OT, SLP, etc.)
- Locating recreational and community-based opportunities
- Aiding providers in finding additional support for autistic clients
What can I expect in connecting with MiNavigator?
When accessing MiNavigator for the first time, you'll speak to our Intake staff who will gather initial information that will be needed for the Navigator that will assist you. This information may include:
Name and contact intormation
Your location within the state to identity to most relevant options
Specitics around the need that is being experienced
After this information is gathered, you will be connected to the next available Navigator.
Please note that wait times can vary when accessing MiNavigator. Our Navigators aim to provide encient service, but delays can vary with the number or contacts we serve statewide.
Once a Navigator has received your information. they will reach out to you with potential resources to address the need you presented. Some additional information may be needed depending on the complexity of your need.
