Individual Counseling: Individual Counseling provides the professional support and guidance needed for growth and change to occur. When confronted with trials, hurt, and pain most individuals will find themselves trapped in maladaptive coping skills and unhealthy cyclical behavioral patterns. As the counseling process begins and therapuetic rapport is established, each individual begins to practice new positive coping skills. While doing so, relief and hope bring about empowerment and strength.
Family Counseling: Treating the whole family is an integral part of improving family relationships and identifying barriers and personality differences. Whether you are struggling with your toddler who won’t listen, your relative who is dismissive or needing co-parenting skills, Mary can help you have the kind of relationship you desire with family members.
Marital/Couple Counseling: While most marriages start out an a positive and loving note, many couples find themselves struggling within a short period of time. They identify issues with communication, boundaries, problem-solving, and unaligned expectations. If your marriage has taken a difficult turn, help is here. Mary has helped many couples regain the closeness and bond they once shared by creating opportunities for self-reflection and awareness. As couples work towards recognizing their own weaknesses, they can begin to build on their strengths and regain the joy they desire for a closer and loving relationship.
Group Counseling: Mary offers group work to help individuals with similar struggles come together and support one another. Please contact her for more info.
Play therapy: Mary offers play therapy to children and adolescents to help build trust and rapport within the therapuetic relationship. The opportunity to engage in play, crafts, coloring or other shared activities allows for a non-directive approach to counseling that helps with children and adolescents who are more closed-off to their feelings.
Brief Counseling: While many busy individuals desire quick results, brief counseling involves a period of 8-10 sessions to focus on one struggle in their lives. This type of treatment has helped many individuals with their short term goals.
Parent Coaching: Mary works side-by-side with parents to help remedy and enhance parenting skills. Because parenting is a learned behavior, many parents often struggle with “how to parent.” Mary helps parents to identify areas of improvement and ways to build better relationships with their children.
Christian Counseling: For those seeking faith-based counseling, Mary works with individuals to use their faith and spirituality as an anchor towards healing and peace.
Additional Services
School/IEP Consultations: Children and Adolescents who struggle academically, socially, and emotionally often need additional services within the school environment. Mary’s coordination with school teachers, psychologists, and other school personnel helps to create a “team” approach to treatment; streamlining information between therapy and school. Mary is actively involved with attending school meetings, IEP meetings, and ongoing communication to assist with improving school behaviors and the academic exprience.
Crisis Evaluations: In situations where familys find a loved one in crisis, Mary has extensive training with individuals of all ages. She is able to assess and evaluate those who are in danger of hurting themsleves and others, and to work directly with hospital and psychiatric personnel to ensure admission and safety of your loved one.
Psychiatric Coordination: At times medication is part of the treatment. In those cases, Mary is able to coordinate with the prescribing psychiatrist to help with client coordination.
