Sib4Sib

Description:

Sib4Sib now provides a variety of resources including support groups, advocacy services, networking, and social outings for individuals ages 6-18 with a sibling who struggles with mental health or are neurodiverse.
The main goal of Sib4Sib is to provide a safe space for siblings to express their emotions and spend time around other people who understand what they are living with every day. In addition to providing an outlet and support system, Sib4Sib helps siblings to develop skills which deal with built up emotions. Sib4Sib also provides strategies which address the everyday challenges of living with a sibling with mental health concerns.
The central goal of the organization is to show siblings that they are not alone with their feelings and experiences. Siblings are just as affected by the needs of the sibling who is struggling as the rest of the family. Unlike the rest of the family, the siblings do not have an avenue to express frustration, anger, and resentment that develop in their daily life.
Sib4Sib addresses this need by creating a safe space for siblings to share their frustrations and learn coping strategies in a support group setting facilitated by a licensed mental health professional. In addition to support groups, Sib4Sib provides resources, advocacy, networking, and social outings. All programs are free of charge. Learn more about our support groups.
*Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic all of our support groups have moved to a virtual platform.
This chaotic time is challenging for everyone. Sib4Sib was started to provide support for siblings of individuals who are neurodiverse or struggle with mental health. In this different time, our mission has not changed. We are still here to provide support for siblings through our virtual support groups.
These 45 minute groups are facilitated by a licensed mental health professional, confidential, and catered to participants needs and age range. We’ve worked closely with our clinical team to make sure that participants get the most of Sib4Sib. Our activities and group agenda are designed specifically for the age of the group members, with special consideration given to the fact that we are meeting through a virtual platform.
The benefit of switching to virtual groups is that now Sib4Sib is accessible to all siblings, regardless of location. We are offering a variety of days and times in order to increase accessibility.
So…are you ready to sign your child up for a virtual Sib4Sib support group made just for siblings of individuals who struggle with mental health or are neurodiverse?
