Who We Are
We are a group of neurodivergent (mostly autistic) therapists providing neurodiversity-affirming therapy and psychological testing services to neurodivergent people. We specialize in Autism, AuDHD, OCD, ADHD, Trauma, PDA, Anxiety, and LGBTQIA+ supportive therapy. We offer online and in-person therapy services in Grand Rapids, MI. We provide individual, couples/ family therapy and group therapy. We have therapists that speak English and Spanish.
Neurodiversity Affirming
We specialize in providing therapy services to the neurodivergent population with an emphasis on Autism, ADHD, and OCD. We believe that all neurodiversity is a form of human diversity and that there isn’t one ‘normal’ or ‘correct’ type of neurocognitive functioning. We reject the idea that Autism, ADHD, or OCD brains are disordered or need to be cured. There is no scientific basis for labeling the neurodivergent as disordered. This is a reflection of adopted cultural norms that pathologize divergent neurotypes and allow for oppression and discrimination against them.
We are committed to helping our clients heal from internalized oppression and find ways to celebrate and explore their neurodivergence. We believe that it is possible to live harmoniously in this world without masking or trying to change who you are.
LGBTQIA+ Allied
We are committed to a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual affirming practice. We support LGBTQIA clients and their families with identity exploration, relationships and addressing the negative impacts of homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism have on the lives of LGBTQIA+ clients. We follow the WPATH Standards of Care.
Advocates for Racial & Social Justice
Heartstone Guidance Center stands with our Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Community Members. We condemn systemic racism and the oppression of People of Color.
We respect and understand that our BIPOC clients have unique identities and cultural experiences. We acknowledge our differences while remaining committed to inclusivity. We acknowledge the impact of race, racial trauma, oppression, and ongoing microaggressions on the lives and experiences of our BIPOC clients.
