Psychological Testing
The Center for Psychological Well-Being offers some psychological testing to help in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders and issues.  Some of this testing includes the following:
  • Anxiety
  • Bariatric Evaluations
  • Depression
  • Mood Disorders
Bariatric Assessments
A psychological evaluation is required by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery for patients undergoing Bariatric surgery. The evaluation is to assess the patient’s awareness of the necessary post surgical life style changes that most occur for the surgery to be successful.  It also identifies the patients strengths, as well as areas where they may need support or assistance.  The patient will first undergo an interview with the Psychologist.  After the interview is complete, the patient is then administered a variety of tests including the MMPI-2, EAT-26, EDI, Binge Eating Scale, Beck Depression Inventory and Beck Anxiety Inventory.  After the interview process is complete and the tests are scored, the psychologist prepares a report for the surgical team, based on the findings of the evaluation.
Substance Abuse
The Center for Psychological Well-Being offers individual outpatient therapy for the treatment of substance use and chemical dependency.  We provide treatment for individuals who are struggling with dependency to alcohol and drugs.  By means of outpatient substance abuse therapy,  the psychologist and patient will identify root causes of drug and alcohol use, repair damaged relationships as a result of drug and alcohol use, develop healthier coping skills, and build a program of recovery that helps the individual sustain a healthy and productive life free from the use of alcohol and drugs.
