Benjamin’s Hope
Description:
Our 54-acre campus in Holland, Michigan offers semi-independent housing opportunities uniquely designed for adults with autism and other disabilities. The walking trails, worship experiences, petting barn and gardening activities are enjoyed by people throughout Ottawa County, Michigan, and beyond. The neighborhood of Benjamin’s Hope offers a place where adults of varying abilities choose to live and cultivate community with one another.
We live out the Learn aspect of our care model through various forms of community programming.
Life Enrichment & NEXT
Life Enrichment & NEXT gather together Ben’s Hope residents and members of the larger community, every weekday from 9am to 3:30pm. Programming gives participants the chance to learn, farm, create and volunteer both at Benjamin’s Hope and throughout our community.
RPM
We are proud to offer Rapid Prompting Method (RPM) training at Benjamin’s Hope to our residents, their families as well as members of the larger community. Founded with a core value of assumed intelligence, Ben’s Hope continues to research forms of communication that help those with developmental differences connect with their world. RPM is one such method, with evidence of empowering those with nonverbal communication styles to express their intelligence and inner thoughts.
As with all fun, some of the play at Benjamin’s Hope is scheduled and lots of it is spontaneous. Our weekly gatherings at Club Connect create a focused and intentional time where Benjamin’s Hope residents build friendships with members of the larger community. In addition, playful excursions are often incorporated into our life enrichment programing as well as added to the monthly calendar of happenings at Benjamin’s Hope. From bowling and laser tag to baking competitions and harvest festivals, we know how to have a good time.
