In Memoriam: Henry William Stertz, III

“Henry William Stertz, III, age 5, of West Bloomfield, MI, passed away suddenly September 4th, 2021.

Henry had just begun kindergarten at Keith Elementary School, and he was a student of Kaufman Children’s Center in West Bloomfield.

Henry’s passions included art and drawing (on anything and everything), dancing, and climbing (on anything and everything).  He loved all things Pixar, eating chicken sandwiches and popsicles by the dozens, and he detested wearing clothes – he thought our society was far too prudish on this particular issue.

Henry had a very eclectic taste in music.  Just before bed, Henry and his family would have their nightly “dance party” – often watching and listening to some highly unconventional music videos and jumping around the furniture, dancing with joy.

Although he didn’t talk much, his happiness and warmth spoke volumes to the people he loved and who love him dearly.

Henry is survived by his mother and father, Kate-Lynn and William Stertz, his younger brother Curran Walter Stertz, and his grandparents, Bill and Colleen Stertz of Saginaw, Mary and Patrick Kearney of Erie, PA, and Tim Czerwinski of Erie, PA, and his aunts Gretchen, Courtney, Sara, Megan, and Kiely and his uncles Logan, John, and Ryan, as well as his many beloved cousins, great-grandparents, friends, neighbors, and teachers, all of whom Kate and Bill want to thank for their gracious support.

Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 340 North Pontiac Trail Walled Lake (3 Blks. S. of Maple Rd.) Friday and Saturday, 1-6 PM.

Please consider contributing to the Autism Alliance of Michigan in honor of Henry. The autism navigators provide critical help, hope, and answers to families living with autism, and always at no cost.”

*The family asks that you wear a mask if you plan to attend the visitation and vaccination or a negative COVID test result within the last 48 hours are strongly encouraged.*
