For families living with autism, air travel is often an extremely difficult or impossible option. The entire experience, from the size of the airport, number of people, security protocols, noise, smells, and visual stimulation can easily over stimulate a person with autism.
The Autism Alliance of Michigan, the Wayne County Airport Authority and Delta Airlines are collaborating together to offer an airport simulation opportunity for families with autism. Join us at the Detroit Metro Airport for an opportunity to go through the preparation and on/off boarding experience, practice going through the security check, the jet bridge, and visit the airport terminal!
Spots are limited to the first 25 families and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Each family will be limited to child(ren) with autism and up to 2 caregivers accompanying. Physical disabilities can also be accommodated.
