MAFF IEP COURSE
October 14 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am EDT
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Thursday, repeating until November 4, 2021
Four Thursdays, 10:00am-11:30am
Learn to improve the quality of your contributions to your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and increase your effectiveness to address concerns using the IEP process.
This IEP Course includes a weekly follow-up call/email with a Parent Mentor to assist with applying the class information to your child’s IEP.
• Class #1- Special Education Laws, Rules, and Educational Needs
• Class #2 – Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance
• Class #3 – Goals and Objectives, Progress Monitoring
• Class #4 – Supplementary Aids and Services, Special Education Services and Programs
Who should attend? This course is only for parents/guardians with a child/young adult who is currently receiving special education services.
Space is limited. A Parent Mentor will contact you to confirm your participation.
This is something just for parents. We will learn about the different parts of the IEP process. Then, with one-on-one help from a Michigan Alliance for Families Parent Mentor, apply that knowledge to your child’s own IEP.
Participants are expected to attend all four sessions.
Space is limited, registration closes September 30. A Parent Mentor will contact you the first week of October to confirm your attendance, and after your attendance is confirmed, then you will receive a confirmation email with the link to attend.
We’re excited to offer the IEP Course for the first time in the morning. If evenings work better for your schedule, the IEP Course will be repeated later this year with an after-dinner start time.
