Disability History and Independent Living Philosophy

Many people don’t know that the Disability Civil Rights or Independent Living Movement was happening right alongside the civil rights movement for People of Color. This presentation will give an overview of some of the important people and events that led to the passage of key disability civil rights legislation.

In this training, we will cover:

  • Key Disability Civil Rights Leaders
  • The Independent Living Philosophy
  • Key Events in the struggle for Disability Rights
  • Key Disability Civil Rights Legislation.

Who will benefit from this training?

  • Employers, government agencies, schools, health care, non-profit, and for-profit businesses. We believe anyone could benefit from this training.

Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.
