AAoM had a Great Time with Elmo and Friends

For the third year in a row, AAoM had the privilege of working with Olympia Entertainment and Vee Corporation to host an autism-friendly performance of Sesame Street Live: Let’s Dance at the Fox Theater in Detroit on Saturday February 6th.

While the performance was not sensory-free and included some loud noises, lights and strobe lights, we provided a run of show letting parents know when moments of high-stimulation would occur. Laura Hathaway at Warners Corners Toys (link to her site: http://warnerscornertoys.com/) and our Autism Alliance Young Professionals Board provided some entertainment in the sensory break room for anyone who wanted some time to relax during the show.

Of course our Navigator team was on hand in the lobby to provide resources, help, and giveaways to all of the families in attendance.

We would like to give a special thanks to the Olympia Entertainment staff and volunteers for providing a fun and safe environment for our families. And, of course another special thank you goes out to Elmo and all of his friends for putting on a great performance!
