Stony Lake Therapeutic Riding Center

Description:

From 2016-2018 we had a small therapeutic horseback riding program at our public riding stable.  We provided weekly equine therapy during the summer months to numerous local families.
Our program was led by Ms. Aubrey, a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor.  We saw so much growth in the children over the 3 months they were here, however we did not have the facility to provide therapy year-round.  Each summer when therapy started back up, the kids had to start back at square one as they had lost their progress from the summer before.
We realized that in order to benefit the kids long-term we had to pursue a full-time, year-round therapy program.  To accomplish this we have started a 501c3 non-for-profit called Stony Lake Therapeutic Riding Center.  We finished construction of a new 62′ x 120′ indoor riding arena in April 2020 and our therapeutic riding classes began July 2020.  We currently have 26 weekly students!
We hired an additional therapist in July 2021 and look to increase the number of kids we work with as well as develop a program for veterans starting in the fall of 2021. Of course, none of this is possible without public support, please consider making a tax deductible donation to help!
