Many people only visit an eye doctor when problems occur, but Simone Eye Center recommends a complete eye exam on a regular basis as a part of your routine medical care. This will depend on your age, health, ethnicity, and family history. At Simone Eye Center, an eye examination will consist of a thorough evaluation of your ocular health and vision. This usually includes refraction, (an evaluation of your need for contact lenses or glasses) and a complete dilated eye exam. We will screen for common conditions such as glaucoma, dry eye, macular degeneration, and cataracts, as well as retinal changes such as those associated with diabetes and high blood pressure. A review of your symptoms and medical history will be considered along with the findings of your eye examination. We will discuss the results with you, and communicate with your primary care physician or other doctors as needed.
