I have taken my practice online right now in an effort to 1. keep all families safe and 2. provide continuity of care for my clients.  I have already found my clients (of all ages) to be resilient and flexible in these unique times as we continue to grow and learn together!

Hello families!  My name is Kate Jurevicius and I’m a licensed speech-language pathologist  (i.e. speech therapist!) providing evidence-based, private speech and language therapy services to children in the Ann Arbor and the surrounding area, with a focus on:

• speech disorders (articulation/phonology/speech sounds)
• receptive/expressive language
• Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC, for individuals who are minimally verbal or nonverbal)
• Early language/developmental delay
• Social/pragmatic language (for children on the autism spectrum or with other diagnoses that impact social competencies)

Age/developmentally appropriate games/toys/materials are used in therapy to engage children and support their communication needs in a fun, nurturing environment.  Therapy goals are established from current school IEP objectives and/or a comprehensive speech/language evaluation.

In my role as a speech pathologist, I support ALL areas of communication, which is very far-reaching and goes much further than just ‘speech’.  Communication is a complex process of ideas, formed into words/language and delivered through the motor process of speaking or delivering your message.  It is also a two-directional system of understanding what we see/hear and then responding to this information.  A breakdown can occur in many different places along this path, creating challenges in social and academic settings for kids.  It’s my job to identify those areas, support and strengthen them, and help build confident, resilient communicators along the way!
