Oakland University Cultivate: A Sensory Garden Experience
Dig in, stand out, and grow something amazing! This spring, join our NEW program Cultivate: A Sensory Garden Experience, a hands-on, outdoor gardening experience designed autistic individuals ages 10–15. Over six weeks, we will transform a wild garden plot into a vibrant sensory sanctuary. Participants will take full ownership of their own garden “zone,” selecting plants that appeal to their unique preferences from “pet-able” Lamb’s Ear to edible “Chocolate Mint.” Beyond the soil, this program focuses on the power of teamwork as we clear the land, build shared trellises, and eventually harvest our own garden-to-table snacks. It’s more than just gardening; it’s about grounding ourselves in nature, exploring new tastes and textures, and building a community from the roots up.
