The Autism Alliance of Michigan’s Upbound at Work disability employment program has been selected as one of the featured Non-Profit competitors for the 2019 SwingShift and the Stars Season in Traverse City!

Upbound at Work has partnered with local Traverse Bay area companies to increase diversity employment in the region over the past two years. Upbound at Work’s mission is to connect talented individuals with disabilities to great companies.

The unemployment rate for people with autism and related disabilities is 80-90%, yet reliable candidates with technical skills and great abilities are overlooked in the recruiting process.

To raise funds to support staffing this unique initiative in the Traverse Bay area we need your help!

  1. We need votes.
  2. We need sponsors.
  3. We need you to join in the fun, in the dancing.
  4. We need you at our event.

If you can not attend you can still support these efforts with a donation.

Continue...
Currently Logan is the sole Design Engineer for Skilled Manufacturing Inc.’s Automotive Division in Traverse City. Logan enjoys trouble-shooting engineering fixes, as well as diving into many topics of interest in his spare time. Prior to working with Upbound at Work, Logan wasn’t confident that he would find a career track job after graduation, growing up with multiple health issues and disabilities including hearing impairment and autism. Today, Logan is dancing to represent Upbound at Work, challenging himself and the community to be inclusive and to consider unique demonstrations of talents and abilities. Dancing is exactly the place to consider just how boring life would be if everyone were exactly the same!
