Heritage Hill Haven
Description:
Foster a healing, supportive, and sustainable environment for therapeutic, learning, & wellness programs that improve the quality of life, health, & wellbeing of individuals of all ages and abilities by utilizing the benefits of farm life and animal-assisted therapy to achieve meaningful outcomes (with an emphasis on inclusive programs that serve individuals with special needs & their families).
Heritage Hill is a 60-acre scenic 19th-century farm in Ann Arbor, Michigan that has been offering therapeutic equine-assisted programs and farm activities for individuals with special needs since 1999. Michigan Abilities Center, a PATH, International Center, has provided equine-assisted therapy programs at Heritage Hill since 2006. In May 2015 Heritage Hill Haven was incorporated as a nonprofit to help support a variety of therapeutic and educational programs for children, youth, and adults with physical, mental, emotional, or learning challenges.
We focus on strengths and abilities, not disabilities. Equine-assisted therapy is emphasized due to the unique healing
and empowering benefits of the horse’s rhythmic movement, personality, and horse-human interaction.
