Finding Support and Providers – Birth to 6
Finding out your child has Autism can be an overwhelming experience. Sharing your experience with trusted family and friends can help others understand your needs, and better support you during this time. Ask for what you need, whether it be emotional support, help with household chores, help watching your children, recommendations of providers, or opportunities for you child to play with other children.
While you speak to your doctor about referrals for you child, ask about support groups for families. You may also want to ask about a referral to a psychologist or social worker who works with families who have special needs children.
