The Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)

This event is held in partnership with Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN), Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, City of Detroit, Detroit Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity, Liberty Bank, and REVOLT TV.
Course Description: The Institute of Trauma and Economic Justice is proud to host a training on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact on people and communities. This training will also discuss resiliency, self-healing, and includes panel discussions focused on addressing challenges stemmed by untreated traumas, which are impacting the health and safety of our communities today.
Course Objectives:
1. Understand what Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are and the impact they have on learning and health outcomes.
2. Recognize how stress response system activates fight, flight or fear and becomes conditioned over time especially in high stress situations.
3. Understand the concept of trauma informed care and how it creates safety for those impacted by violence and trauma.
4. Learn ways to build resiliency through protective factors.
5. Discuss community impact of ACEs
