Sensory-Friendly Saturday at The Henry Ford’s Giant Screen Experience
July 10 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDTFree
Join us on the second Saturday of each month at 11 AM at The Henry Ford’s Giant Screen Experience for a customized movie experience designed for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder/Sensory Processing Disorder and their loves ones. Each month we will feature a different film pulled from our regular schedule of high-quality educational documentaries for families.
On July 10th at 11 AM, the Giant Screen Experience will be showing “Hidden Pacific.” On the far reaches of the Pacific Ocean, blue-green islands, atolls, and corals reefs are thriving with a dizzying array of wildlife and tropical beauty, largely untouched by humans and currently protected as marine national monuments. Premiering on Earth Day (April 22) 2019, “Hidden Pacific” will bring to viewers never-before-seen footage of these remarkable places, sharing the splendor of such pristine environments and their important role in safeguarding our planet.
Your experience includes modifications to the traditional theater experience:
Lighting: The house lights stay on throughout the film
Sound: The sound is turned down for sensitive ears
Format: No 3D – all movies are played in regular format, eliminating concerns about 3D glasses
Length/Topic: 30- to 45-minute documentary films, appropriate and engaging for all ages
Environment: Stress-free and welcoming
Concessions: Available at the Giant Screen Experience Lobby
