About the Navigating Autism Today: Grand Rapids Conference

You are invited to join Autism Alliance of Michigan for the Navigating Autism Today: Grand Rapids Conference presented by The Children’s Foundation on Friday, October 28th, 2022 at the L.V. Eberhard Center (Grand Valley Campus) in Grand Rapids, MI.

The mission of this conference is to bring autism professionals in the fields of early diagnosis, education, independent living, employment and more directly to Michigan’s autism community.

Our goal is simple – that attendees leave the conference feeling better equipped to navigate their autism journey. A complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided to all attendees.

About Keynote Speaker Kris Harrison, PhD:

Kristen (Kris) Harrison, PhD, is a professor and media psychologist in the Department of Communication and Media at the University of Michigan. She runs the Family and Media Lab and conducts research on children, adolescents, and media. She has studied the consequences of media use for body image, eating disorders, sexual behavior, obesity, emotional wellbeing, and self-esteem. Her recent work focuses on children’s use of media for sensory regulation and its connection with family media conflict. Kris was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in 2007 and her twins were diagnosed with autism and PDD-NOS in 2011. They all identify as Autistic and rely on humor to stay sane in a built environment that was not normed for them. You can find her on Twitter @SomeLikeItAut.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy:

Although guests are not required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend this event, Autism Alliance of Michigan (AAoM) reserves the right to update this policy and instate vaccination, masking, and social distancing requirements if an unexpected surge in COVID-19 occurs leading up to the event.

The health and wellness of Michigan’s autism community continues to be our top priority. AAoM supports current United States Center for Disease Control and American Academy of Pediatrics vaccination guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination and recommends children and adults are vaccinated accordingly.
