Advocating for Your Child with Epilepsy

Join Michigan Alliance for Families for a free webinar: Advocating for Your Child with Epilepsy with Shannon Waid from Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.
It’s important that schools are prepared to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for children and youth with epilepsy.
Students with epilepsy may need help taking medicine or extra time to complete schoolwork. With the right support, they can thrive at school. Parents and caregivers, physicians, teachers and school staff can work together to support students and be prepared for emergencies.
Learn more about:
• Educating teachers, support staff, coaches, bus drivers and classmates on epilepsy, triggers, medication aide effects, and first aid.
• Knowing the rights students with epilepsy have at school – Seizure Action Plans, IEPs and 504 Plans and Communication.
Who should attend? Families with a child or youth with epilepsy, school staff, other community members.
