AEP Announces Autism Coverage

August, 2016

The Autism Alliance is pleased to be able to announce that another prominent U.S. employer has introduced autism coverage to it’s employees. American Electric Power (AEP) is one of the largest electric utilities in the U.S. servicing over 5.4 Million customers across 11 states. AEP will now be voluntarily offering coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism. We are grateful to AEP for taking a hard look at the numbers, for when the true cost implications of autism coverage are weighed, a company can appreciate the benefits of providing this essential coverage to employees and their families. We can’t help but thank DTE Energy for being a leader in the power industry and first employer in the state of Michigan for adopting autism benefits, even prior to autism legislation efforts.

If you have any questions about adopting autism coverage or insurance in general, please contact our Navigator line at or 248.436.AAOM.
