Transition is also one of the collaborative initiatives AAoM is pursuing with other autism advocacy organizations throughout the state. One significant initiative involved the Community Housing Network in SE Michigan creating a comprehensive yet simple guide to plan for housing in communities where individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, choose to live. The name of this project is “Getting My Own Address for People with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities”. This is a wonderful, detailed, and easy-to-follow guide for any family planning a transition. AAoM hopes to work closely with the Autism Society of Oakland County in increasing awareness of thiis outstanding tool.
